Mogoșoaia Palace
A Brâncovenesc palace on a lake, barely outside the city and perfect for half a day. Gardens, a courtyard, and a bus or a short taxi ride to get there.
Snagov Monastery
On a small island in Lake Snagov, and the legendary burial place of Vlad the Impaler — the historical figure behind Dracula. Quiet, strange and worth the trip.
Comana Nature Park
Wetlands and forest an hour south of Bucharest. Biking trails, kayaking and birdwatching, and almost no tourists.
Peleș Castle & Bran Castle
The two famous Transylvanian castles. Peleș, in Sinaia, is the beautiful one; Bran is the one sold as Dracula's. Both in one day is possible and tiring.
Sinaia is about two hours by train from Gara de Nord and the ride itself is lovely. If you only have time for one castle, make it Peleș.
Therme Bucharest
Not strictly a day trip — it is twenty minutes north — but it fills a day just as well. Thermal pools, saunas, slides and palm trees under one enormous roof.
Practical notes
- Trains leave from Gara de Nord. It is twenty minutes away by metro on the Yellow Line. Buy tickets at the station or online; the trains to Sinaia are frequent.
- Leave your bags with us. If your trip falls on your check-out day, luggage storage is free until the end of the day — just collect it before the reception shift ends.
- Ask at the desk first. Opening days change, some places close on Mondays, and we usually know before the internet does.
Stay an extra night for the castle.
Peleș and Bran are a long day. Coming back to a bed you already have is easier than coming back to a station.
