Privacy policy

Who is responsible for your data

What we collect and why

  • Reservation details — name, contact details, dates, room, price. Needed to perform the accommodation contract.
  • Identity document at check-in — required by Romanian law for accommodation providers. We record the details we are obliged to record. Where a photograph of the document is taken, it is deleted after three months and is never shared with other guests or third parties except where the law requires it.
  • Payment information — handled by our payment processor and by the booking platform. We do not store full card numbers.
  • Correspondence — emails and messages you send us, kept so we can answer and follow up.
  • Video surveillance — the reception and luggage areas are under camera surveillance for security. Recordings are kept for a limited period and then overwritten.

Who we share it with

Only with the parties needed to run the stay: the booking platform you used, our property management system, our payment processor, and public authorities where the law obliges us. We do not sell personal data and we do not share guest information with other guests, family members or third parties who ask about a guest.

How long we keep it

Reservation and accounting records are kept for the periods required by Romanian tax and accounting law. Identity photographs are deleted after three months. Marketing consent is kept until you withdraw it.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may request access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, portability, and you may object to processing. Write to office@firsthostel.ro and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Romanian supervisory authority, ANSPDCP.

Cookies

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google's servers to fetch them. No account is required and no cookie is set by us for that.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date at the top.
